BlackBerry AngelHack APAC Startup Challenge hits SEA June 1

BlackBerry AngelHack Asia Pacific Startup Challenge finally comes to Southeast Asia, starting with Singapore and BlackBerry tomorrow, June 1, 2013.

After completing the BlackBerry AngelHack Startup Asia Pacific Challenge in two cities in Australia, namely Melbourne and Sydney, the organizers are now coming to Southeast Asia, starting with Singapore and Bangkok, Thailand tomorrow, June 1, 2013.

Targeting all entrepreneurs, developers and tech enthusiasts, the event will provide the opportunity to win a smartphone from the esteemed BlackBerry 10 series, or even US$10,000 in cash. Participants would need to meet the prerequisite of attending at least one AngelHack event within APAC and register with the BlackBerry team onsite. Registration would also require a detailed submission of the team’s startup plans which of course, have to include BlackBerry 10.

Once they are registered, these participants will have to create, within 30 days of the attended AngelHack event, a prototype application that can run on the BlackBerry PlayBook tablet and/or BlackBerry 10 ເວທີ. Then, they would have to submit the completed application into BlackBerry World and obtain approval within the next 30 days. The organizers also shared that tech experts from BlackBerry will help the participants through the development process. After winning at the local arena, two members from each winning startup will be flown to BlackBerry Jam Asia 2013 in Hong Kong to participate in a mentorship workshop with AngelHack mentors, and BlackBerry technical evangelists and business development experts.

The runner up team for each city will receive US$1,000 and a BlackBerry Z10 smartphone, while the winning team for each city will receive an all-expenses paid trip to BlackBerry Jam Asia 2013 for two members, a mentorship workshop by AngelHack and BlackBerry, a pitching slot for BlackBerry AngelHack Startup Asia Pacific Challenge and two BlackBerry Z10 smartphones.
